Ronda Brodhead – In Flight Staff Spotlight and Highlight

Ronda Brodhead has been an incredible asset of the In Flight team for over 16 years. Starting as a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP), she has grown into her role as the Associate Director of Residential (ARD), taking on various roles, including Assistant Manager and Manager, to achieve this milestone. Her unwavering dedication ensures that the individuals supported in In Flight’s Residential Programs actively pursue their dreams and truly feel at home. Ronda’s commitment extends beyond the individuals she supports to the staff she trains, creating a legacy of care and empowerment.

Ronda’s Path to In Flight

Ronda first learned about In Flight through friends who worked there. At the time, she was employed by another agency, and their residential programs occasionally crossed paths. Familiarity with some of the Glasco residents and encouragement from a friend led her to join In Flight in 2008. Initially a second job, it soon became her primary focus as she transitioned into a managerial role.

A Day in the Life as an ARD

As an Associate Director of Residential (ARD), Ronda Brodhead wears many hats. She oversees seven residential programs, supporting those locations managers, and steps in to fill vacancies as needed. She works closely with the people we support, helping them overcome challenges, achieve goals, and purse their dreams. Additionally, she trains staff, teaching them how to provide the best support possible. Collaboration with other departments, such as Facilities, Nursing, QA, and HR, is another vital aspect of her role. Whether acting as a DSP, Manager, or ARD, Ronda embodies adaptability and dedication.

“No two days are the same,” says Ronda Brodhead. As she’s on call 24/7 to be available to staff and the people we support, her days are dynamic and fast-paced. Whether answering staff inquires or problem-solving to ensure the well-being of the individuals supported by In Flight, her work is constant but deeply rewarding.

Ronda’s Journey into the Field

Ronda’s journey into this field began unexpectedly. Growing up around family members in the nursing field and friends working in similar agencies, she was encouraged to apply for a job when one became available. Initially hesitant, her perspective shifted after meeting a man in a motorized wheelchair during a program visit. “I was shocked to see him moving independently,” shares Ronda, “and even more shocked when he greeted me with ‘Hello, Gorgeous.’ I assumed he wouldn’t be able to speak.” His independence and humor left a lasting impression, prompting her to accept the role of Direct Care Worker. From there, her passion grew, leading her through various roles to her current position as ARD.

Finding Joy in Supporting Others

Ronda’s favorite aspect of working at In Flight is her ability to bring her creative ideas to life in the residential homes. Decorating alongside the individuals she supports to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, transforms our residential houses into homes. Seeing the people we support’s excitement and receiving gratitude from families reinforces the impact of her efforts. In Flight’s encouragement of her creativity has made a year-round difference in the lives of those we support.
