Lily Schaub – Highlight and Spotlight
Meet Lily Schaub, our Development Specialist and the face behind the camera of Tea Time with TC.
Why did you join In Flight?
I joined In Flight in March 2017 as an intern for Human Resources. In Flight was looking for someone to help out when possible and I was looking for a flexible experience where my skills could be utilized and developed while I went to college. After college and once the pandemic calmed down, I was able to come back full-time as the Human Resources Assistant.
What do you do at In Flight?
I am a Development Specialist, so I work alongside our Director of Development and Special Events to raise money and awareness and gain connections in the community for us and our folks. I also help create Tea Time with TC!
What is a typical day at your position?
Everyday is different! When you can find me at the office, I’ll be working on our social media accounts, newsletters, our website and blog, planning events, and whatever else needs my attention. When I’m not in the office, I’m either stopping in at programs, going to chamber events, meeting with community members, and more!
How did you get into this field?
I went to college to study English and Communications and while there I tried to get as much out of my time as possible. I interned with a local cafe during my school time to build up their social media and internet presence, and minored in design too. After coming back to In Flight in 2021, was when I was introduced into the field of Development and how my skills could be grown in this area.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is getting to meet new people and create things! I love being able to work on Tea Time with TC and I love that I have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of the people we support. Also, I love how my day-to-day changes based on what is needed.
Has In Flight helped you towards your professional goals? How?
I would not be in the field of Development if it wasn’t for Marisa, our Manager of Staff Development. She saw my skills first hand and knew I would be perfect to help out Jill, who at the time was doing this by herself. As time went on, it was evident that I could truly grow in the field of development and as much as I loved working in HR, I am grateful they saw my potential to be in development. In Flight has also helped me grow my skills and gain new ones. It’s also lead me to meet some amazing people and help our community more!
