Celebrating Community Spirit: In Flight at Hudson Flag Day Parade
This past Saturday, June 8th, In Flight had the privilege of participating in the Hudson Flag Day Parade for the second year in a row. It was a day filled with joy, community spirit, and patriotic pride as we joined our neighbors to celebrate this cherish tradition.
A Bigger Presence This Year
Building on the excitement from last year, we decided to make our presence even more special. For the first time, In Flight had a float in the parade! The float was beautifully decorated with balloons, flags, banners, and other patriotic decor. Signs, decorated by our Ghent Day Habilitation Program, were held by our participants on the float and marching alongside.
Uniting Our Programs
One of the most heartwarming aspects of our participation was seeing the unity of our community. A large number of our residential program participants either rode on the float or marched alongside it. Their enthusiasm and energy were infectious, spreading joy to everyone who lined the parade route.
A Day to Remember
The support and cheers from the crowd were incredible. Seeing familiar faces and new friends waving and cheering for us was truly moving. It’s moments like these that highlight the importance of community events and the role they play in bringing us all closer together.
We are immensely grateful to everyone who helped make this day a success. From the participants who decorated and marched, to the staff and volunteers who coordinated our involvement, to the community members who came out to support us – thank you!
Looking Forward to Next Year
We’re already looking forward to next year’s parade and planning how we can make our participation even more spectacular. Furthermore, being part of the Hudson Flag Day Parade has become a cherished tradition for us, and we are excited to continue celebrating and connecting with our community in such meaningful ways.
Thank you, Hudson, for another unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to march with you again next year!
