Botanical Beautification: Cultivating Community to Make a Home
We are incredibly grateful to the amazing success of our Make a House a Home initiative. This initiative is a testament to the power of community, bringing together our team members and fellow businesses across the Hudson Valley. This collaborative effort has transformed the outdoor spaces of our Residential Programs, exceeding all expectations, of botanical abundance.
At In Flight, Inc., we are dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our Residential Programs play a crucial role in this mission, providing a supportive group home environment where residents can learn vital household skills and enjoy a high quality of life. However, the outdoor areas of our residences had long needed attention. Henceforth, by enhancing these spaces, we aimed to create welcoming environments where our residents could relax, socialize, and find joy in gardening.
Botanical Abundance
The “Make a House a Home” event saw an outpouring of generosity and support from our community. We are immensely grateful to our donors, including Adam’s Fairacre Farms, Callander’s Nursery & Landscaping, Lowe’s, The New Corn Crib Greenhouse, and Northern Dutchess Botanical Gardens. Their donations of flowers, plants, and gardening supplies were instrumental in the success of this project. Additionally, thank you Janet Del Rosario, a dedicated donor and active Red Hook community member, for her donation of supplies.
Connecting Community
Our Associate Director of Human Resources, Marisa Ricci, played a pivotal role in this transformation. Using her green thumb, Marisa carefully selected and arranged the perfect flowers in the planter boxes, creating stunning displays that brought color and life to our outdoor spaces. Her expertise and dedication ensured that each plant was placed with care, contributing to the overall beauty and harmony of the gardens.
The transformation was nothing short of magical. With each new plant, the outdoor spaces began to come alive with color and beauty. Marisa’s meticulous work and the high-quality donations ensured that the gardens would continue to flourish for years to come. Moreover, Callander’s Nursery & Landscaping’s donation of perennials will provide a lasting legacy of beauty.
Succulent-ly Successful
The success of “Make a House a Home” is a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together. Furthermore, it is more than gardening; it was a celebration of inclusion, empowerment, and the transformative power of community. Our residents now have vibrant outdoor spaces where they can enjoy nature, find solace, and cultivate their love for gardening.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this event, from our donors to our dedicated staff. Your support has made a lasting difference in the lives of our residents, helping them feel truly at home.
As we continue our mission to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we look forward to more opportunities to connect with our community and create positive change. Together, we are making the Hudson Valley a place where people of all abilities can thrive.
Once more, thank you for being a part of our journey and for helping us make a house a home.
