Wonderful Collaboration For Good – Kingston Salvation Army on Tea Time with TC

A Heartwarming Interview with Captain Erik of the Kingston Salvation Army

In the latest episode of Tea Time with TC our beloved host Tiffany sits down with a very special guest, Captain Erik of the Salvation Army in Kingston. This episode is particularly close to our hearts as it shines a light on the incredible volunteer work Tiffany and her fellow Prevoc participants have been doing every Friday.

A Mission of Service and Compassion

For those who might not know, Tiffany and her peers have been diligently volunteering at the Salvation Army in Kingston, bringing much-needed food and supplies from Hannaford’s. This weekly act of kindness ensures that the pantry is stocked and ready to serve the community. But their contributions don’t stop there. Tiffany and her friends also roll up their sleeves to clean the pantry and lend a helping hand in any way possible.

A Partnership in Giving

During the interview, Captain Erik expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support from Tiffany and her fellow volunteers. He also shared how their efforts make a tangible difference in the lives of many North West Dutchess and Ulster County residents. The donations our Prevoc Group delivers to the Salvation Army helps support their Red Shield Soup Kitchen to provide food Monday through Friday from Noon to 1pm. Additionally, it supports their food pantry, where community members can come once a month to pick up nine meals for any size families.

Recognizing Dedication and Hard Work

Recently, Tiffany and her fellow volunteer Brian were recognized for their outstanding contributions. Alongside our Red Hook I-SAIL Supervisor, Joe, they received certificates of appreciation. Additionally they were treated to a lovely dinner, celebrating their hard work and dedication. This recognition is a testament to the significant impact they have made through their volunteer efforts.

Bringing Joy During the Holidays

Tiffany’s involvement with the Salvation Army extends beyond the pantry. During the holiday season, she has become an invaluable asset to their Red Kettle Campaign. With her extroverted nature and warm spirit, Tiffany excels at engaging with the community, spreading holiday cheer, and encouraging donations. Her passion and charisma have significantly boosted the campaign’s success, helping to ensure that more families can enjoy a joyous holiday season.

A Spiritual Connection

In addition to her volunteer work, Tiffany joins Captain Erik at his church on Sundays. This connection has deepened her understanding of the community and strengthened her commitment to service. Attending church has also provided Tiffany with a sense of belonging within her community. Not only is this volunteer experience enhancing her skill set, but is providing meaningful connections and friendships.

Mutual Aid towards a Brighter Future

The Salvation Army’s connection with In Flight has truly blossomed over the course of a year. Not only are the people we support actively aiding their fellow community members, they are building skills and connections. This joint effort has provided mutually beneficial aids to both our participants growth and those in need in the community. If your nonprofit or community group is in need of volunteers, please consider opening your doors and help us break the barriers for people with disabilities.
