Cornhole For A Cause Successfully Builds Remarkable Community Bonds
In Flight’s Cornhole for a Cause Fundraiser Raises Over $22,000 to Support Programming
In Flight, Inc. is proud to announce the success of this year’s Cornhole for a Cause, which took place on September 14th at Dutchman’s Landing Park. The event, held in partnership with Hudson Regional LTC Pharmacy, brought together the community for a day of fun, music, and fundraising to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
A key highlight of the day was the All Abilities Tournament, which saw its largest participation yet. This unique aspect of the event paired people of all ages and abilities in a blind draw, fostering inclusion and connection between community members. The tournament served as a powerful reminder of the positive impact community events can have in bringing people together, regardless of their abilities.
Inclusion Soars During All Abilities Tournament
“I never ever expected to smile so much just seeing the joy and happiness throwing some bags with the In Flight ‘folks’, and watching those that we play with often do the same,” said the Tiano Family, team leaders of Route 66 cornhole League, in a statement posted to Facebook. “They helped, talked to, laughed with, and at the end of the day I believe we all took a little something away from these amazing people. In Flight, and their staff 100% earned all of my respect, as well as those that took the time to help the ‘folks’ throw some cornhole bags! When you see an individual that may be different from you in any way, give them a smile, a wave, and make their day, because wow they are some amazing individuals.”
Tom “TJ” Tiano and Tim, took first place in the All Abilities tournament. The Competitive Tournament, following directly behind the All Abilities tournament that day, saw Caden Anatriello and Joesph Millett, take first place. Second place winners, Tom “TJ” Tiano and Austin Dort.
Thank You To Everyone Who Made This Possible
Alongside the In Flight’s Cornhole for a Cause tournaments, attendees enjoyed live music from The Band Everything Else, local food trucks, face-painting, and a beer tent provided by Mill House Brewing Company. A silent auction and raffles, generously donated by local community businesses, offered participants the chance to win incredible prizes, including custom cornhole boards and bags, donated by a local cornhole league, Rabid Baggers.
Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, including MVP Healthcare and The Bank of Greene County, the care and technical support from Mountain Top Cornhole League, and participants, the event exceed its fundraising goal, raising over $22,000 to help fund In Flight’s programs and services. These funds will enable the organization to continue empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their dreams and live independent, fulfilling lives. In Flight is incredibly grateful to all of those who made this day a success.
