In Flight, Inc. has been on a remarkable journey of empowerment, thanks to the unwavering support of partners who share a passion for improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). One such extraordinary ally is The Ascienzo Family Foundation, whose generosity has left an indelible mark on our organization since 2020.
A Transformative Encounter
Last April, In Flight’s Red Hook I-SAIL Academy had the privilege of hosting representatives from The Ascienzo Family Foundation. It was a meaningful moment that would memorialize our partnership towards creating positive change for those we serve.
A Three-Year Journey of Impact
Over the past three years, The Ascienzo Family Foundation has emerged as a pillar of support for In Flight, enabling us to expand our reach and enhance the quality of life for individuals with I/DD. Their commitment to our mission has manifested in tangible ways, making a profound impact on both our people and programs.
Enhancing Behavioral Health
One of the pivotal contributions from The Ascienzo Family Foundation has been the establishment of sensory rooms in our Day Habilitation Programs. These purposefully designed spaces are crucial in supporting behavioral health, providing a calming and therapeutic environment for our participants.
Giving a Voice to the Voiceless
Recognizing the importance of communication, The Ascienzo Family Foundation has generously provided Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. These devices empower individuals with limited or no speaking ability to express themselves, fostering a sense of independence and self-advocacy.
Expanding Employment Opportunities
Additionally, the foundation enabled us to create more opportunities for Supported Employment. By funding an additional Job Coach, In Flight is able to offer enhanced guidance and support to individuals seeking meaningful employment, furthering their journey toward independence.
Latest Contribution: Driving Dreams with a Purpose
In a continued display of their commitment to enriching the lives of individuals I/DD, The Ascienzo Family Foundation has generously earmarked their latest contribution towards a driving simulator for our I-SAIL Academy. This state-of-the-art simulator holds immense potential to empower our participants with a valuable life skill, opening up new possibilities for independence and integration into the community. Because of The Ascienzo Family Foundation’s contribution, we are halfway towards obtaining a driving simulator.
