SUMMARY:Make a House a Home
DESCRIPTION:Make a House a Home for the residents at In Flight’s programs!\nJoin us for “Make a House a Home\,” a volunteer day initiative by In Flight\, Inc. This event is part of our year-long celebration of connecting people of all abilities across the Hudson Valley. On June 13th\,  participants\, administrative team\, and neighbors will transform the outdoor spaces of our Residential Programs. \nEvent Purpose: At In Flight\, Inc.\, we empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities\, helping them achieve independence. Our Residential Program teaches essential household skills in a supportive group home environment\, ensuring the highest quality of life for our residents. However\, our outdoor spaces are currently not as welcoming as they could be\, preventing our residents from fully enjoying their decks and backyards. By planting flowers in pots or beds\, we aim to encourage our residents to use these outdoor spaces\, bringing comfort and color into their homes. Additionally\, this project will provide our residents with the joy and purpose of gardening\, offering them the opportunity to care for these flowers. \nVolunteers needed!\n \nHelp us plant flowers in pots and place them at every one of our residential programs. Any and all help is welcome\, whether an individual or a group! Our unique I-SAIL program provides an extra step for young adults with I/DD who have aged out of the school system and are ready to transition to independent living. In Flight prides itself on consistently innovating new ways to best achieve the goals of those we support\, I-SAIL\, being one of these innovations. \nLearn about The Academy!\nYou’ll have the chance to engage with our staff and participants\, gaining insights into the personalized steps taken to enrich independent living skills and financial sustainability for adults with I/DD.
